Oil Imports; Myths & Facts |
|
I went into the store at the truck stop the other day and saw a Xeroxed
copy of a fact sheet regarding which companies import oil from the
Mid-East and which ones don't. Wanting to share this info I thought I
should check it out first. I did a Google and came across Snopes.com and
other myth busting sites. I discovered that much of the information on
fact sheets such as this is either misleading or simply not true.
There are many variants of this information (beginning in 2001), most encouraging readers to boycott companies that import Mid-East oil claiming such imports support the world-wide terrorists movement. According to Department of Energy information the only companies that don't purchase oil from the Middle-East are Sinclair, Sunoco and Hess. This is just one more piece of evidence supporting the idea that the Internet is both the greatest source of knowledge and the greatest source of trash that "We the People" have ever had available to us. May God give us the ability to tell the difference! |
