God's Great Horseshoe Crab? |
|
Remember the Heaven's Gate group that
committed suicide in 1997 thinking they would ride into heaven on the
tail of the comet Hale-Bobb? I don't know whether they made it or not,
but there seems to be no end to religious beliefs that, at least,
challenge mainstream thinking. The current example, I suppose, is the
mess going on in Texas.
Now, I don't know if I've stumbled across another such group of, dare I say, weirdoes or not. But, while driving through Blanchester yesterday I spied this giant horseshoe crab parked right next to a church building. I don't know what denomination it was nor do I have any idea why a church, located in Southern Ohio and somewhat removed from the ocean, would want a huge replica of a sea creature next to its walkway. My thinking, however, is that they possibly support some theory that the horseshoe crab plays a major role in life's mysteries and that it may be the mode of righteous transportation come the day of rapture. |
