May is here and that means getting
prepared for Summer Reading Adventure. Our theme this year is "Catch the
Reading Bug". We have lots of great programs, contests, and prizes
planned for all ages. You won’t want to miss out on this. Upcoming programs include: * MAY 1 – 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM GAMC STROKE SUPPORT OPEN HOUSE- GAMC REHAB is celebrating National Stroke Awareness Month with an open house at the library. There will be a Stroke education presentation at 11:15. The day will also include stroke risk assessment, blood pressure check, free food, giveaways, and fun! Everyone is invited.* MAY 6, May 27 & June 24 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM - CET Learning Services 2008 Early Childhood Workshops. Natalie Reder from CET will be here to present great workshops for preschool parents, caregivers, or educators. The workshop titles are Check up time, Helpers Around Town, & People in my Neighborhood. These are always great workshops and CET always provides lots of children’s books and other teaching items for all the participants. Please call or stop by the library and pre-register for these free workshops.* MAY 8 – 10:30 AM - SENIOR CITIZEN’S MORNING- Stories, Craft, Games, & Refreshments. A fun morning at the library. Plan to join us. * MAY 12 & 13- 9:OO AM – 8:00 PM- PERENNIAL EXCHANGE – Bring some perennials that you have many of and exchange them for some that you don’t have. It’s a great way to add many kinds of plants to your flower gardens. It’s been a fun annual event for 5 or 6 years, and is always enjoyed by all flower lovers.* MAY 17 – 11 AM – 2 PM – SUMMER READING ADVENTURE KICKOFF AND COOKOUT - Children, teens & adults who sign up for summer reading on that Saturday will get to join us for a cookout. Children will also receive some fun take homes that day. If you can’t come in on May 17, you may sign up anytime throughout the summer.* MAY 19 – 6:30 PM – GENEALOGY CLUB – We are developing a group of people interested in genealogy, and who want to learn more. This club will be for all levels of interest, and the group will help determine the monthly themes and speakers. Earlene Scott leads the group. Plan to join us.* MAY 21 – 5:00 PM- BOOKWORMS book discussion group will be discussing "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. This group always has a great time sharing in the discussion – plan to join the fun.* JUNE 3 – 5:00 – 8:00 PM- CPR CLASS – Debbie Hensley will teach this class. This class is free to the public. There is a class limit, so call to pre-register and to get more information. There is a $1 charge for a certification card.The Greenfield library now has Wi-Fi! Bring in your laptop, & pick up a Wi-Fi Internet Access Agreement. It will contain needed information and the passphrase to log on. Come in and try out our new system and let us know what you think. We have Children’s Storytimes each week. Times & Ages include: Tuesday at 11 AM for 2’s & 3’s & a caregiver, Thursday at 6:00 PM for age 3 – grade 6.We want to thank Brenda Armstrong for the teddy bear display and program that she shared in April. Our display for May will be presented by the GAMC Rehab Stroke Support group. We will be closed May 26 for Memorial Day. You may use the outside drop box to return items that day. The Greenfield Library will have new operating hours beginning June 2. They will be Mon-Thurs- 10am – 7pm; Fri- 10am – 5pm; and Sat- 10am – 3 pm.Greenfield Public Library is located at 1125 Jefferson Street, Greenfield, Ohio.
